Can you give me examples of sayings which are 'down wid the dudes'?

Light hearted.

WhatsApp messages between mum and two daughters.

Two of us messaged at exactly the same time 'spill the beans/tea'.

And the argument ensued ....

Apparently 'spill the tea' (her) is correct as in 'spill the tea gurl' (daughter's spelling) and she insists she's correct and 'spill the beans' (me) is obsolete.

She (tongue in cheek) said 'I is right cos I is rizz'.

I have no idea what that means, but can you give me examples of cool dude sayings so that I can continue this conversation in the same manner?

We're discussing gen X, gen Z and millennials and I feel a bit lost.

I need to 'get down' with the new street parlance so that I can surprise them.

No not used like err what? It's more like when something disgusting or gross you say like "urgghh ...brother urghhhh" to get the full sound effect maybe check it on YouTube ha

Beamur · 04/10/2024 12:06

I think that's how to use it 😂
But the point of slang is to be mobile and flexible

I just asked my teen. Sigma is another version of the "alpha" it means like a lone wolf who does his own thing, is independent, the strong silent type (whilst the alpha is a leader) and doesnt run with the pack. It's very cool apparently and possibly better than being an alpha.

I've been schooled

Yes, but it's also used sarcastically to describe someone who wants to be/thinks they are an alpha type but aren't.

Can someone tell me if skibidi is a good thing or a bad thing?

Sethera · 04/10/2024 12:13

Food: Scran, munch

Scran is ancient - interesting that it's come back into fashion, I wonder why?

Good, but it's really just a nonsense word, almost poking fun at all the other slang

Hoppinggreen · 04/10/2024 12:19

"its whatever" seems to be the favourite with DS15 and his mates.
Means it doesn't matter I think
DS told me that he has some "seriously hot tea" last night that he may tell me at some point - its driving me nuts!!!!

rainydaysaway · 04/10/2024 12:20

when would one use ‘skibidi’?

Literally for anything! "I'm having a skibidi drink, that's a skibidi dance, you look skibidi today, skibidi hello!"

It has no meaning

easylikeasundaymorn · 04/10/2024 12:27

"No cap bestie. Don't be jealous of my main character energy. Just accept I understood the assignment, slayed, ate and left no crumbs."

Traslation : for real/i'm serious mate. Don't be jealous of me being a legend. Just accept I know what I'm talking about and did an excellent job"

easylikeasundaymorn · 04/10/2024 12:29

There's a trend at the moment where older people do their jobs using gen z slang...this is my favourite

Hope it isn't a euphemism.

I think it means something is jolly good

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 04/10/2024 12:53

I'll never get used to it but I'm going to try and remember as much as I can and drop the odd bit into conversation when I'm speaking to professional people - like a GP, or the grandchildren's teachers.

It's a steep learning curve - I've already forgotten most of the meanings up thread.

What shall I say when I pick the grandchildren up later?
