Tell me ONE cute trivial thing about your child/pet

I need some feel-good factor this morning! So tell me one charming, pointless thing about one of your kids or pets that will make me smile.

Mine is: I discovered that if I leave a little basket of odds and ends in my little boy’s room, he will play with every item. I love the fact that every time I refresh the contents of the basket, he spots it right away and investigates. It has become “our thing”, a little unspoken game we are playing. 🥰

This summer I was mega stressed that I had done no packing and had no summer clothes to wear on our holiday and was too busy at work right up to the last minute to sort it

I came home from work on a Friday evening with us due to fly the next day to find my 17 year old DD had gone through my wardrobe and laid out lots of lovely suggested summer outfits that I had forgotten I had all ready to pack.

It was such a perfect and timely thing to do and I felt like 17 years of parenting was all worth it in that moment.

If it’s raining, my cat asks to be let out front door with high expectations it won’t be raining at the front, only at the back where his cat flap is. When he sees it is raining out at the front too he looks at me in anger/disgust. Then gets more pissed off when I shut the door and won’t just keep it open so he can see outside but be inside.

My cat loves a cuddle and will jump from the floor into my arms trusting that I'll catch him. Doesn't matter what I'm doing or if I'm holding anything.. if he wants a cuddle he will jump!

My cat will sit on the work top at 11 am everyday and wait for his cat treats.... trying to find a picture for tax purposes lol

The odds and ends basket unspoken game sounds lovely.

Just picking one cute child/pet thing at random, when my son was two we were watching some bees at work. I told him that bees make honey. He gave me a withering look and said "Don't be silly mummy. Bees don't make honey."

My cat will come and sit on me for cuddles but only when we are alone. The moment she hears anyone else approaching she leaps off me like I am on fire, sits at the opposite end of the sofa and acts like she is completely unaware of my existence.

When I am gardening, my dog gets freaked out by all the weird stuff I am doing and tries to get my attention back onto him. So yesterday, when I was teetering on a stepladder stretching out with sharp tools to prune a tree, he repeatedly brought his manky toys to me and stood staring at them, at the foot of the ladder, right in the line of any dropped tools or fallen humans.

It's my Dog's 4th birthday today. We have only had him since May as he's a rescue. 🙂

My ddog and dcat are getting very friendly lately.. Despite having lived together for the whole of ddogs entire 11 years!

My massive chocolate Labrador sneaks on to my lap when I’m WFH thinking I won’t notice. He goes very slowly, moving my laptop with his head and never making eye contact. He looks very pleased with himself when he is in position.

These are all so lovely! I had a ooh moment yesterday. I have a teenage child who has disabilities. Every night without fail, he checks on his youngest brother that he is asleep and then he turns his light off. My heart always melts. How did I get so lucky

They're planning something. Look at their butter wouldn't melt faces!

Your teenage child sounds lovely, @wizzywig . That is so sweet.

I love daffodils so that has always been my choice of Mother's Day present.

When DS was about 10 I heard the door shut very early and off he went to get them. It's about a 20 minute walk each way. Three years later, DD did exactly the same thing. Both times in Manchester rain. ☔️

romdowa · 04/10/2024 09:18

When putting my ds aged 3 to bed at night just as I'm leaving the room he'll whisper night mummy love you and blow kisses at me 🤣 I've always found it very cute

Mybeautifuldogs · 04/10/2024 09:24

My little dog has 3 beds and several blankets, but her favourite place to sleep is on my big dogs tail 🤣

My youngest loves to play 'I spy' in the car but always asks by mistake if we can play 'Hide and Seek'. Tickles me for some reason, I usually say 'I found you!'.
