Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant and looking to register but cannot decide which would be the best hospital. I live in central london and initially considered Queen Charlotte, St Mary's and UCLH and then took Queen Charlotte out due to the size of the hospital. Advise given is look for hospital with good NeoNatal care. I am over 40 and this is a IVF baby. I am also doing this by myself so the care and support from the hospital will be important. Which one did you go with and what was your experience? St Mary's is closest to me, but UCLH is not much further away.

It was over ten years ago, so to be fair it might have changed and it's better to listen to more recent experiences if any are forthcoming, but I had a bad experience at UCLH. I can't say there was much care.

I had an emergency cesarian and the doctors performing that were great, the midwife afterwards was really good, but the days leading up to the birth, the induction, and the way I was treated afterwards (apart from by the midwife) left me feeling unheard and upset. So, some good points, and I'm grateful my baby and I survived thanks to the team, but the compassion was lacking.

Did you end up going with UCLH? If so how was your experience as an over 40 mum and especially as a solo mum really relying on the hospital team for care? I hope you had a healthy, happy baby
