Council buying private house

Has anyone sold their house to the council? My local council have been out to view or house twice now we are still waiting for them
to come back with an offer. We have found our dream home so are anxiously waiting. How long did it take for council to make an offer on your property?

My DS sold his to the council a couple of years ago.
They offered asking price and completed in reasonable time.
House was done up a bit and then sold on - part ownership type of thing I think.
They won't join in bidding wars or anything - one offer and that's it.
DS found it really good as no chain below and obviously the council had the money available.

I recall they came and looked and made an offer pretty quickly.... it was a couple of years ago - may have been a week or so from viewing to offer.
Our estate agent was keen to go ahead as she said once they've made the offer they won't change their mind or quibble about anything.
