What does this dream mean? Water

I was in a lovely looking beach, and suddenly the tide came in full force and I was struggling to climb out in time (there were lots of rocks by the side to help you climb out).

I was holding DD and screamed at her to stay there as a threw her on top of a large rock. She is a very clingy 3 year old that wants to be held 24/7! So I knew she might try and jump back to me

The water was crystal clear. So tranquil. But it was rising and rising and had light waves to it, so I knew I would go under with the current

I was shoulders deep and managed to push myself onto the same rock as DD.

Then we stepped onto the walkway by the hotel and all was well Hmm We got to safety as soon as we stepped onto the walkway that was bedside the hotel complex

Nobody around us seemed concerned about it or offer to help. There must've been passers by!

What could this mean, this dream? Does it symbolise being overwhelmed?

I find it fascinating how vivid dreams can be. The detail in them. Things like that

Ive had similar dreams but was by myself. Ive thought in hindsight it meant i was feeling isolated and overwhelmed.

I would tend to agree that it indicates you are feeling overwhelmed, that some aspect of your life is out of your control. However, in the dream, you did take control - you pulled yourself and DD out of the water and found a place of safety, so your brain is telling you that whatever it is that's worrying you is within your capacity to control and resolve. The fact you've recognised a lack of help from passers-by perhaps means you need to ask for support from someone.

Think about what it might relate to - family life, work, friendships - and how you can come up with a real life strategy to help yourself, including asking for support if you need it.

A useful way to think about dreams is to consider that everything in the dream is a manifestation of yourself.
you are the water
you are the current
you are the rock
you are the child

Sometimes, when you think about each element in turn like that, deeper meanings will reveal themselves
