How many countries have you been to in Europe?

When I was a little girl, I never had a burning desire about my career, or relationships.

I just remember always having one strong goal, that I thought about a lot.

It was to see every country in Europe before I die. Its still something I think about, and I'm determined to get there one day.

I'm 40. And I've still only seen just over half of the countries in Europe. I think I've seen around 25. I'll have to add them up, but I know it's around that.

It seems to take so long to get to my goal, because I have so little annual leave, and I'm too tired at the weekend to do a weekend quick trip.

But one day I'll get there!

I just thought it might be an interesting thread.

How many countries have you seen in Europe?

I’ve done 27 ( counting the UK as one)- feel ashamed not to have been to the Republic of Ireland- next on the list.

Slovenia is fabulous, we did a long road trip across Europe and it was one of our highlights.

Lived in 2 of the above for 6 months each and have lived in another country on my list for over 30 years🙂

Oh, and also England, Scotland, Wales, Jersey. Never made it to Ireland though, sadly.

I’m on a measly 15 if we count the UK as one.

But I’ve been to Italy, France, Greece multiple times. There’s still more of them I’d love to see (also Croatia) and I’ll probably choose that over seeing a new country…

What was Ceuta like?

Three, including the UK!

Lovely bedsheets, lovely swimming pool, surprisingly cold sea. Good views, though not as good as Gibraltar (could easily see why that was such an important place, strategically.) It was interesting enough and sunny. I just had a couple of days wandering round. Lots of taxis offering to take you into Morocco, so you could make a longer trip with that.

18 I think, if we're counting Scotland, Wales and England as 3 rather than UK as 1. I think we should, they deserve the distinction.

I've got a lot more of Eastern Europe to see! I've got a few friends from Cluj-Napoca in Romania so I'd like to combine that with Bucharest at some point. Slovenia and Albania also high on the list.

Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Luxembourg (only on a bus ride though), Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Bosnia (but only the in a car briefly), UK obviously, Republic of Ireland.

I also planned a trip to Switzerland for next month.

Not as many as I was expecting TBH...I feel well travelled though. I've done a good number outside of Europe as well if that helps.

@Nannyoggapple I can really recommend group holidays. I’ve done loads - with DD as a child since I was a single parent, and then as an adult. They don’t stay strangers for long. I’m still in touch with many if them years and years later. I need to have a bit of a focus on Eastern Europe because it was out of bounds when I did a lot of European travel (and with Putin’s shenanigans might become so again).
