New born/yearly photos you wish you had taken?

Thinking about taking a photo to repeat it every year when baby arrives. Will be winter so no lying in the garden etc. What’s something can replicate each year?
Want to enjoy them and not just over think the making memories shit, so trying to think of a few things now so when sleep deprived do that and just enjoy them.
Any other photos or videos of things you did that was great/you wish you had taken? It’s usually me that takes photos so I want to be in them/show how tiny they were etc

One to remember for when they're a bit older, but we have a set of questions we ask on their birthday every year and video the answers. Things like "What's your favourite song?", "Who's your best friend?", "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Lovely to see the changes in their answers as they grow up, and a reminder of their personality and interests back then.

We've returned to the church where we got married each year on our anniversary and taken a photo in front of the church doors, 1st anniversary was just us, 2nd included the dog, 3rd will include baby more to capture as our family grows and a nice little tradition rather than being too onerous

Next to the Christmas tree the day it goes up

DH and I have been to the same place every year for a sporting event for a long time and always take a photo in the same spot each year with a lovely view behind us. When I was expecting DC1 we had a ‘bump’ photo there, then the next year a photo of us and baby, then us and toddler, etc. We have now had DC2 and last years’ photo was me, DH, DC1 and bump this years was me, DH, DC1 and DC2. We will continue every year if we can.

Every Christmas Eve putting out the carrot for Rudolph on the plate we use. I suspect we will only get one more year of believing but I intend to make him do it forever more although I am aware it will probably involve bribery once he is a teenager.

Just snap lots of photos of everyday life. Don't worry about getting everyone to smile or angles etc. Just pull the phone out and snap or record. It's lovely when they come up in memories and I find I prefer the day to day stuff to the occasion stuff.

Next to the Christmas tree! It’s not a ‘thing’ in our house, but I noticed when looking through my photos that we’d done it a few years but had missed a few too, and now I wish we’d done it every year as it was so lovely to see how much my child had changed on the photos I did have.

I’m always taking photos of my child now, but I regret not having any taken of me when I was pregnant. I was huge, felt rough most of the time and never like any photos of myself even when not pregnant. But I’m always talking to my child about when I was pregnant and I wish I had some photos to show him.

Don't forget to include you in your photos! Mums always seem to be the ones taking the photos - I’m probably in a handful of them, but the dad is in hundreds of them!
