Where the Jeff has it gone ??

My daughter and baby grandson are staying with me, she had one of those gadgets that cools the milk down, a bit like a reverse flask. It's not small and quite heavy. I washed it up yesterday and left it on the kitchen worktop. We went to use it this evening and it's gone.
I've been through all the kitchen cupboards, the dustbin, the unit in the lounge, my bedroom, her bedroom. It's nowhere to be found.
There is no reason that either of us would have taken it outside of the house, where the hell is it??

I'm absolutely perplexed and really annoyed, I 'm worried I've had some sort of absence as I cannot remember moving it from the kitchen.

Anyone else in the house? My DP is a pain in the arse for putting things 'away' in the most ridiculous places!

Did it get packed in the changing bag / a handbag in anticipation of using it when out and about?

ETA: did DD take it to wherever they're sleeping to cool any overnight bottles last night?

Do you have a cat like mine that will have happily knocked it on the floor and shoved it under some furniture?

It's just me , daughter and the baby. She hasn't taken it out of the house. We have emptied the changing bag , it's not in there. No one else has been round .

I lost my favourite mug last year, that hasn't been found either.
It's so strange, it's not as if it's a small thing to lose.

When I lose something like this, it usually ends up being in a very obvious place, but just upside down, or on its side or something, so my brain just doesn’t recognise it as the thing I’m looking for, because it doesn’t match the image in my mind.

It was in the corner on the kitchen worktop, it's cylindrical with a bit of a domed top so it can't be upside down. It hasn't rolled off because I know that I stood it up.

In the car?

I've looked in both our cars and it's not there.

In the fridge beside the milk, if it's related to milk things maybe someone accidentally put it away with the milk?

I know where it is.

It's run off with one of my steak knives.

I was thinking fridge, too. Or rolled under the sofa.

Also check your external bottle bin. I found baby's bottles in there when she was a few days old - DP had chucked them out with the recycling!

Think about what you did after you washed it. Gather up stuff to tidy away? To put in the bin/recycling? Put stuff in the washing machine?

It's not in the fridge or the oven and wouldn't fit under the sofa, although I have looked under it just to make sure.
it's driving me mad trying to think what I did and retrace my steps.

2 Are you the person who mislaid a sausage last week? If not sorry, does anyone know outcome of that story as unable to remember the title of it.

I haven't lost a sausage but I did lose a mug last year. I'm normally pretty good at visualising where I put things but this had me stumped.

Bathroom ?

It's up high, on top of a cabinet or a bookcase or something similar.

Not in the bathroom. I've looked at all the high places, there's not many to be honest, the only place I haven't looked is the top of the kitchen cabinets and if I put it up there, I'd have serious worries about the state of my brain!

It's definitely up high, somewhere bright. Near pine or a light coloured wood

I’ve sometimes found things in the freezer that should have gone in the fridge ?

I also can’t find the outcome of the thread about the lady who lost half a sausage, she had put 4 in her ‘toad in the hole” and could only find 3.5 after baking it 😂

they are great little gadgets... do you have someone in the house who might think it was a water bottle and taken it off to the gym or something?
