Never been before, really excited! I’ve had a google at things to do/see and there seems to be plenty but thought I’d ask on here too incase I’ve missed anything!

It’s definitely worth doing a guided tour of the Sagrada Familia and of Parc Guell, if you are planning to go to either. I found the Parc Guell one really interesting.

There’s a cafe that’s famous for churros and drinking chocolate. I can’t remember the name, but just google. It’s very worth it as a late night treat.

There’s also a restaurant called El Xampanet. It’s in the touristy area, but it’s very good, but busy. Get there early to get a table. Not too far from there is a flamenco show. It’s one of those really touristy things to do, but it’s in a beautiful space and very intimate and I thought it was really wonderful. I’ll see if I can find the one I’m thinking of.

Palau Dalmases is where the flamenco show is.

If you are scooting about a lot get a tourist train / subway ticket. Barcelona is bigger than you think

A jug of cava sangria went down very well when we went to Barcelona a few years back... very well... Smile

Without a doubt top thing is Sagrada Familia. Leave time to wander around to though. Just follow your nose.

JSMill · 01/10/2024 21:44

Definitely get a guided tour of the Sagrada famillia. A knowledgeable guide will point out and explain so many things that you would probably miss on your own.

How long are you staying? The trains are brilliant in that area, I recommended a trip to Sitges if you can fit it in.

Make sure you’re confident which airport you’re landing at! We fly to reus a lot and people are often arriving their thinking they are closer to Barcelona than they are.

Get the cable car to Castell de Montjuïc. Fabulous views of the city! We travelled around by metro - very easy.

Make sure you book part guell. We didn't and were turned away (although was June not October)

There is a lovely food market on Las Ramblas called La Boqueria which is a spectacle by itself
Might be a bit chilly for the beach but you could walk along it.
Casa Batlló by Gaudi on Passeig de Gràcia
There are the human tower people in Plaça del Consell de la Vila at 19:00h

I would second the Mercato Boqueriq... pull up a stool at one of the eating places and watch them produce delicious food in front of you.
I'd also say the hop on hop off tourist bus is a great way to get your bearings and see the sights (although the underground is very easy too, just don't see much!) There are 2 routes, both are good.
