AIBU - Heating

AIBU to be complaining that we have central heating on downstairs whilst my partner lets our 3 children have their bedroom windows open? The heating is set to 21 degrees, it’s between 6 and 12 degrees outside depending on the time of day and in some cases they have them slightly open and in other cases they have them wide open. She says because their bedroom doors are shut it’s not wasting power or cooling the house down but we do have gaps under their doors. My issue is they’re cooling the rest of the house down and it’s also a complete waste of money.

They need to respect your feelings the same way you had to respect their in their home. Its your house and it does seem wasteful. Curious why your parents are doing this with your kids. Do the live with you?

Do your children find 21 too stuffy.
Maybe compromise at 19-20?

Sorry I had to edit, meant to say partner not parents.

My partner has it at 21. I’m happy to not have it on, and put a throw on. It’s having windows open and heating on at the same time that I fund unreasonable.

I agree. Whenever the heating goes on in my house, all windows should be shut. The only exception is if there are smells that need fresh air to remove eg. Kitchen or bathrooms. But then only for a short period.

I will go one up on you though and say I also prefer to have the blinds down and the curtains closed as well, when the heating goes on. To further help keep the heat in lol 😆

The heating is not on upstairs just downstairs. But the heat goes upstairs and straight outside. My partner thinks I’m being unreasonable as the kids like the breeze on their face …..

Heat rises it will warm their rooms up slightly, I think it's silly having the windows open with the heating on.
