I can only assume tat either he wanted to put our soldiers lives at risk or he is monumentally stupid. Both is also an option.

He seems to have reinvented himself from being a relatively moderate, centrist Tory into parading himself as a raging right winger. Presumably this is motivated by blind ambition rather than any real conviction - he thinks that's what the Tory membership want (and tbf, he's probably right) and he assumes that the electorate will be attracted to Reform Mark 2 as well. He appears to have learned from the Boris school of politics that you just need to say and do whatever you think will make you most popular.

The last thing this country needs is yet another self serving politician without any real principles, but sadly, it looks like that's exactly what we're going to get.
