Painted radiators?

I moved into a house where one of the radiators is painted black. It is clearly a poor DIY job and now I don’t know what to do as I’m not great with DIY either

There is a trend now (or maybe since forever) where people are painting their radiatotors to match the decor

TBH I would change all of them if I could and in a small flat I dont have space for the wooden radiator covers (bar 1 maybe)

Have you ever painted or had your radiators painted?

Opinions?

I paint my radiators white every time I repaint the room. I don't use gloss but either use emulsion or radiator enamel. If you don't want to paint it yourself a decorator could do it for you.

I have a lilac radiator that the previous owners painted to match a purple bedroom. It's not what I would have picked and I'm not sure how successful painting it white will be, (going to give it a try though). Black radiator definitely sounds worse than lilac, you have my sympathy.

I had a black painted radiator in my bedroom as a teen safe to say when I moved out my parents swiftly repainted it white and you can't tell it was ever black. I'm assuming my dad scrapped the black off it first though

Just sand it to remove the bad job, I assume you can see brush marks or chips and then re paint it as you wish op 😁 it's really easy . You can get special radiator paint if your worried do you wouldn't even need to prime or anything

we've just got all of our radiators powder coated - bit like what they do to alloy wheels if you want to change the colour. Took them to our local spray shop, chose the pantone colour and they've sorted it.

Any chance of a photo please?

I hate painted radiators.

My previous houses were older properties and had all had their radiators painted by the people who lived in them before. They were yellow and full of paint runs so we had to prep and redo them and then keep on top of them each time we decorated.

The trend to paint them black looks so sloppy unless done properly. I now live in a brand new build and will never go near them with paint 🙈

Just get some white radiator paint and paint them, it's easy.
