Paid £20 after receiving dodgy text, link took me to a dodgy government site. I have cancelled my cards this evening.
Is this enough to stop the scammers taking my salary tomorrow?

Halifax advisors work until 6pm

No one take your money simply by you paying them money. Did you also give your log on details to your account?

Also pop over to the other thread about scammers, there's a warning about the parking ticket one

I've had a hospital parking fine,il two speeding tickets, one was refunded by HM courts yesterday for some unknown reason in the last few weeks. I panicked and paid the fine.

No I didn't give anyone my log in details. I was sent a text with a link

Contact Action Fraud. For future bear in mind no authority like police or dvla would have your number to text or communicate other than by post.

Of course they can if you give them your debit card details.

Gcn · 29/09/2024 21:44

What details did you give? Can you check your balance online?

DeliciousApples · 29/09/2024 21:48

Phone up the bank and choose the option for lost card. That should put you through to someone to cancel your card right now surely.

Circumferences · 29/09/2024 21:51

You've cancelled your cards that's the main thing. That's probably what your banking support line would have told you to do anyway. Not much else you can do.

GwenPost · 29/09/2024 22:06

This is a 2 part scam. The scammers will now call you pretending to be from your banks fraud team telling you that your account is compromised and try to get you to transfer money/download dodgy software/some other thing

So if you get a call from your bank do not believe them. just hang up

YummyBelicious · 29/09/2024 22:12
