They want me to return leaking item

I bought fabric softener for sensitive skin on Amazon and it wasn’t cheap. I have severe eczema. When I received it, it was leaking and they want me to return it in order to receive a refund. Is this right?

Yeah it's pretty normal. Just stick it in a plastic bag and back in the box and return it

Needmorelego · 29/09/2024 18:48

Can't you just transfer it to a non leaking container?

shellyleppard · 29/09/2024 18:48

Won't it have leaked away by the time they get it?? 🤔

Often you can just take a photo and they'll ask you to get rid yourself.

Completelyjo · 29/09/2024 18:49

Why wouldn’t it be right? You can’t have a refund if you want to keep the product, sounds pretty basic to me.

Thfrog · 29/09/2024 18:49

Fair enough if that's what they want..

Shyfrog · 29/09/2024 18:49

The product is virtually empty. It leaked and soaked through the packaging lol

No loss to you then, so what’s your issue with it?

Needmorelego · 29/09/2024 18:50

Send them the empty carton then !

InTheRainOnATrain · 29/09/2024 18:53

I’ve had this. Put what’s left of it, packaging and all in a bin bag, tape it up and take that to the post office.

I’d ask them to put in writing that they want you to parcel up a leaking bottle and sodden packaging and return it to them, I’d agree I’d tape it all into a black plastic sack and then I would ask them when their courier is collecting it. No way would I put that in the ordinary postal system.

Just go on Amazon chat and complain they’ll likely issue a refund without you needing to return the item

It's not like she wants to keep something that she can still use Confused

OP - I've had damaged items from Amazon before and I've just sent a photo and received a refund/replacement.

Shyfrog · 29/09/2024 20:28

They’ve just said they’ve given me a refund and I haven’t had to return it. I was just trying to say it was ridiculous to suggest that I should return a package covered in soap

Quite often they send you a new item and tell you to keep/bin the damaged item IME.

EveryKneeShallBow · 29/09/2024 20:36

I’m just imagining one of those Amazon returns parcel buyers paying £1 and receiving a whole pallet of people’s bin bags filled with leaky bottles 😜
