Kemi Badenoch: Maternity pay is “excessive” and people should exercise “more personal responsibility”

Tory leadership contender Kemi Badenoch interviewed today has said that, “Maternity pay is “excessive” and people should exercise “more personal responsibility”

When it was put to her that the amount of maternity pay was important for people who could not otherwise afford to have a baby, Ms Badenoch said: “We need to have more personal responsibility. There was a time when there wasn’t any maternity pay and people were having more babies.”

An interesting position to take as part of her campaign for the Tory leadership position: less maternity pay and support for new parents.

You seem to have told on yourself a bit there, you seem to be saying women’s rights are anti trans?

Well you think you're very clever, don't you? Quite clearly i said if you support badenoch, you are anti trans, not pro women.

Go and look at her voting record, then tell me she's pro women.

She is not a friend to women. She will not protect women. Her voting record shows she does not, and has not voted in women's interests.

Be careful about who you get into bed with.

Surely there are women in the Conservative Party who see through her bullshit?
Please let her not be a woman who hates women our next prime minister...

She's a staunch Christian so in my very cynical opinion, she's anti Trans rights anyway. Saw how the wind was blowing and latched onto Gender Critical feminism as a vote stealer.

It worked as I know of an awful amount of feminists who voted Tory because of Badenoch. When I argued that she was a Thatcherite and didn't care about women's rights, I was accused of racism.

Actually she claims to be ‘agnostic and culturally Christian’.

Oh come on! She's talking to members of the Tory Party. You can't expect rationality or even basic sense when addressing those sort of people.
