I'm just about to drink my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have been fed & boy kitten's now curled up by my feet, asleep 💤 Girl kitten was watching the world out the window but she's just taken herself off wandering somewhere. I've been slowly pottering round the kitchen, tidying it, while I made my brew.

We don't have much planned for the day. Both girls need to tidy their rooms, and both have homework to do, so they'll most likely do that.

I'll finish transferring my Christmas lists to my notebook, list a few things on Vinted, and probably have a nap myself. I'm knackered after walking miles round Newcastle with dd1 yesterday!

Tonight's tea is pork loin steaks with herby potatoes. Then it'll be my usual Self Care Sunday, everything shower, followed by the end of an episode of Sherlock, and an early night ready for work tomorrow.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning lucysmam

A chill out day sounds fab. What did your DD think of the university yesterday?

My 3 were up at 6.30 and out the door by 7.30 for a surprise trip to Chessington!! They still didn't know where they were going when they left. I'm a bit worried I've not dressed them warmly enough though 🫣

Daddy has taken them and they'll be meeting their uncles and 5 cousins so it will be a fun day.

I'm planning to hoover the whole house, change all beds, mop kitchen and bathrooms, deep clean bathrooms and get all the ironing done (plus probably 3 loads of washing)

I'll make sure I do it at a leisurely pace though with lots of tea and biscuits.

As it's just me for dinner I may treat myself to a chicken pad Thai 😋

Working a 15 hour shift Confused

Yay Hmm

Fudgetheparrot · 29/09/2024 09:24

Morning! :) how was Newcastle?

We are having a lazy morning in the house, have folded some washing and done a bit of dusting plus watched The 1% Club with DS (he’s recently learnt to clap and enjoyed clapping along with all the cheering 😂).

DH went for a “quick drink” last night to say goodbye to someone who’s leaving at work, got back after 3 in a right state. I don’t really object to him having a good night out but I do sort of wish we had a bigger house so he could go and lie around and be hungover somewhere less IN THE WAY. Have just kicked him out the bedroom as DS needs to nap and now he’s sat on the toilet but DD needs a bath. Argh.

DH starts work at 12 and I’m off to book club so will drop kids off at my mums for a couple of hours. This is the first time I haven’t actually read the book but planning on enjoying a toastie and catching up with everyone regardless. Tonight it’s fish fingers, corn on the cob and potato waffles for tea and will probably get caught up on Strictly once the kids are in bed

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 29/09/2024 09:29

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I am having a lazy start to Sunday. Two coffees and a slice of toast for breakfast and lots of scrolling. Shortly I'll go for a shower then make soup in the slow cooker. Later I'll visit mum. A quiet day ahead. Enjoy your day

Thislittlekitten · 29/09/2024 09:31

Morning all.

Im battling the dog who is trying to steal my toast.

Im the only one up so far. DH having a lie in, DD still asleep too. She had a busy day with her clubs yesterday and a party tonight.

Need to pick up DS from a sleepover soon. Expecting him to be a wreak 🙈.

Few bits need picked up from the shop. I need to start packing and ironing for holiday next weekend as we are working and school all week.

Roast beef about to go in slow cooker. Not sure if can be bothered with a full roast. Thinking crusty bread to go with it and few bits🤔

AnotherVice · 29/09/2024 09:33

I was up at half six and had a cuppa with DP before he went to work but then I put some of those acid feet sock things on and went back to bed for an hour. I was then woken up by my ten year old who had proudly made me a coffee as I taught him how to use the coffee machine yesterday! I'll put a wash on in a minute then I'm going to deep clean the bathroom and prep the roast for later, we're having gammon. Then I'm going to pop into town so DCs can choose birthday presents for their twin cousins then go to my sister's to deliver them. Kids are going to their Dad's tonight so then I'll prep for my five thirty start in the morning and have an early night.

Lampzade · 29/09/2024 09:34

Plan to go to the gym to do a reformer Pilates class in a few hours. May do a boxing class too
Will do some paper work and watch yesterday’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Will have a family call with my dcs who are away at university
Lunch will be something simple

DilemmaDelilah · 29/09/2024 09:35

Good morning @lucysmam . Good idea to take it easy today after pounding the streets of Newcastle yesterday!

I had the most wonderful night's sleep, after taking half a cetrizine antihistamine yesterday evening. I didn't wake up until just before 8.

My DH brought me breakfast in bed about an hour ago, and eventually I'm going to roll out of bed and into some clothes. We might visit the toy shed this morning for toys for my smallest grandchild. It's just a little shed outside somebody's house where people donate toys they don't need any more. Such a good idea! After that I will complete the making of this year's hedgerow jelly and prepare and cook the rest of the cooking apples we have been given. I don't think we will be given any more this year - so that will probably be the last of my preserving for this season.

DH cooked us a gammon joint with mash and cabbage yesterday evening, and we will have gammon egg and chips for our meal tonight when we come back from bringing middle grandson home after chorister duties.
Apart from yet more laundry, that is all I have planned for today. If we both feel up to it we might get around to a stocktake of the shed freezer - I could manage that but DH was up earlier than me and will probably want an afternoon nap.... so that might not happen.

Simonjt · 29/09/2024 09:47

Good morning all, my husband was with me when I filled the car up today, he thought the machine was broken because our car is 1.8l but the bill wasn’t the price per litre of diesel x 1.8. He is never wrong and could win an argument with anyone, so I’m never letting that go, it does explain why he thought I was such a tight arse when I was moaning how expensive diesel is.

So he’s likely staying home to wallow in his own shame, my mum and brother fly home today so we’re going out for a posh lunch before taking them to the airport. We need to clean out the chickens too, we might move their run as well as they’ve been in the same spot for a while. When the smalls are in bed we’re going to watch the latest episode of Agatha, we enjoyed the first two.

Elderflower14 · 29/09/2024 09:51

Morning all. Feeling very tired this morning.
Did a 4 till 10 on Friday and a 3 till 10 last night.. Day off today. Going to cook Roast Beef for the first time this morning for Mum and I.
I recorded This Life on Sky Movies so will watch it later. I saw it at the cinema but Mum hasn't seen it. I strongly recommend it! But have tissues!!

gingercat02 · 29/09/2024 09:52

Hope you enjoyed your day in Newcastle @lucysmam
I'm sitting in silence, just had breakfast and 30 minutes before I need to go out to my class. Bliss.
The cat is asleep as usual, DS should be up as he has history homework to do and is going out at 11:30.
DH is in bed very hungover as he was out for about 12 hours yesterday!

No real plans, need to.do a wash, might make soup, and I expect to be involved in history too.

Werecat · 29/09/2024 09:54

Cleaning out the chickens, garden work and then a mad run around to kids activities.

One day, far in the future, this will change and I’ll spend Sunday mornings with a cup of tea in front of a fire. One day.

have a good one!

WinchSparkle80 · 29/09/2024 09:59

Lazy morning ish, DH made eggs for all and that’s cleared up. He is now playing an old video game with DS.
I discovered this morning that the damage I thought I had caused by using pink stuff on granite is actually v tough limescale, and now keep trying to scratch it off, going to take some time but actually thrilled!

Family over this afternoon so cleaning now and then early dinner out, home for showers, prep for school and work tmrw.

Can’t believe am chuffed it’s “only” limescale

OooohAhhhh · 29/09/2024 10:01

We've all just got up. Heading to the kids great grandparents house for the day.

FlorencenotRatchet · 29/09/2024 10:22

Morning @lucysmam and all, happy Sunday.
Volunteered at junior Parkrun. Can definitely notice a drop in temperature- was freezing.
I'm cooking dinner now as am off to the cinema this afternoon and saves the faff of rushing later.
Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. Need to sort out my work bag then a relaxing evening.
Enjoy your day everyone.

lucysmam · 29/09/2024 10:34

Newcastle was good @gingercat02 @Fudgetheparrot (someone else asked too and I cannot remember who)! Plenty to do, really good for shopping & lots of pubs (dd keeps telling me this is important 🤣). She wasn't as keen on the uni as when she looked first time round so is now contemplating a year out to work & save. We'll definitely spend another day (maybe weekend would be better) though, as tourists. I'd have liked to get to Tynemouth & the castle but we ran out of time.

@DilemmaDelilah yes, definitely in need of a slow & moochy day today. Sometimes I think I push myself too much, but I'm very conscious that I won't always be here for the big stuff & uni choice is a BIG thing iyswim?

Good morning everyone, just enjoying a coffee while DH takes the dog out for a long walk. I have prepped everything for dinner, we’re having pork chops in cider sauce, mashed potato, broad beans and runner beans with apple and rhubarb crumble and custard for pudding.
The dishwasher is on, I’ve done the ironing and put it away, made the bed and cleaned the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. That’s it for now!
I want to do some slow stitching in a bit while listening to an audiobook, I have acquired lots of lovely bits and pieces from Etsy, a bit like a fabric-loving magpie me!
I will light the wood burner later and enjoy a quiet day🌻

PermanentTemporary · 29/09/2024 10:50

Good morning all, a year working is often a good idea I think @lucysmam. Having coffee and just about to do the NHS runners knee exercises (I don't run any more but they are still good for those of us with wobbly knees.) Then contemplating some ironing with a podcast, making an apple crumble as dp's parents have given us some cookers. Still waiting for inspiration to strike on a main course. It's my last day of a week off with a big London day yesterday so am enjoying myself.

Kim82 · 29/09/2024 10:50

Good morning everyone. I had a nice lie in until 9am this morning and dd10 was the next to get up just 20 minutes ago so I had a peaceful hour or so to myself.

I’m not sure of everyone’s plans today, dd20 is off work this week and thinks she might be setting off this afternoon to spend a few nights with a friend but it’s not confirmed yet, dh is meant to be going to visit his dad who is home from hospital after his heart surgery but after seeing the state he came home in last night (I had to get up and help him lock the door and guide him to bed…) I very much doubt he’ll be in any fit state to go anywhere! God knows what he was drinking but I’ve not seen him that drunk in years and years and he’s unsurprisingly still in bed!

My cold has ramped up a notch yet again and I feel awful so won’t be doing much apart from ironing DD’s uniform and she will no doubt spend some time with her friends who live on the street and doing her homework.

It’s steak pie and mash for tea tonight and I’ll change the bed covers before getting showered and having an early night tonight. I’m already looking forward to going back to bed!

RabbitsRock · 29/09/2024 11:02

Morning @lucysmam & everyone. Happy Sunday! Just come back from taking DD15 to Tescos to collect a parcel - not a word of thanks 😢 Cold & windy here in Cornwall. I had a sudden yearning to see Autumn colours earlier so might go to the woods if it stays dry. Meeting up with DBro & DSil at my Mum & Dad’s later which will be lovely. Tea will be pork chop for me, chicken breast for DH with roast potatoes, carrots, peas & cheesy broccoli. I usually do a shedload of spuds as DD loves roasties. Dishwasher needs doing as per & I nearly have enough clothes in the washing machine to put a load on. Might photograph stuff to go on Vinted. There’s quite a lot & I need the space!

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 29/09/2024 11:04

Good morning everyone. Was out walking the dogs between 7.30am-8.30am, back home made some porridge & a cup of tea.
Need to sort out my paperwork draw, and order a personalised card for the veterinary team who are doing a fantastic job of looking after my dog for a continued period of time, he's on meds daily so were there monthly at the minute, and have 3-6 monthly appointments.
Pea soup with crusty bread for tea. Had a lovely curry korma last night, so eating a bit lighter today.
My hip pain is causing me problems today, going to see the doctor tomorrow for strong pain meds and annual blood test to see if my iron levels have improved. Have a great day everyone!

Morning, @lucysmam!

I've just made breakfast for DM and I, DH is away for the weekend and won't be back until the afternoon.

I need to do some 'life admin' and some preparation for work this week today (teacher), and I also want to bake soem flapjack/cereal bars and make a trifle for pudding today. Dinner is going to be roast gammon with yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots, green beans, roasted potatoes and stuffing.

DM is taking the dogs out this afternoon, whilst I clean/tidy up and make the beds. I will have an everything bath this evening, then DM will want to watch Strictly so we'll end up watching too, and I might try to catch up on the new David Mitchell thing as it passed me by but looks pretty good.

The weekends fly by far too quickly for my liking these days! But, only 18 teaching days until I can have a week off! Grin

DilemmaDelilah · 29/09/2024 11:13

Well.... haven't been to the toy shed yet but we HAVE gone through the shed freezer! Apart from bread, milk and fresh vegetables I think we can manage without any food shopping for the next month. DH isn't thrilled about that but since he bought a lot of what's in there he can jolly well eat it! I have also got the filtered juice and sugar boiling for the jelly, and I'm cooking the plums (from our own tree) that I found in the freezer so me may have a plum crumble tomorrow.

AgileGreenSeal · 29/09/2024 11:16

Just back up from the beach, had a lovely swim in the Irish Sea- very choppy today so more of a bounce around in the surf 🤣 🌊🌊🌊

Warming up now with a cuppa ☕️

andsmile · 29/09/2024 11:51

Hello

Firstly…..thanks🙂I’ve enjoyed reading this thread as one of my hang ups is ‘not doing enough’ and feeling guilty for resting or just chilling - to read about others resting and pottering about has been a reminder it’s ok and normal

Ive been watching ‘no body want this’ on Netflix but are due to start some jobs at 12. But hoping to fit in a roast later and short walk.
