Uber charging me without my permission

This is more of a head's up to check your bank statements if you have Uber!

I'm abroad for the whole of this month, and checked my account last night before going to bed and saw a £5.99 charge from Uber was pending - freaked out and cancelled my card as I knew I hadn't used Uber for ages.

I then looked into it properly this morning and it turns out they have signed me up to Uber One at a monthly charge of £5.99 without my permission - Googling it it seems to be a big problem worldwide that this is happening, so please anyone with an Uber or UberEats account, check your bank statements to see if they are charging you without your consent.

The charge shows as Uber *One on your statement and you can cancel it via the Uber App in the Account section.

Just realised they ve been doing this to me and because I thought I’d been hacked I contacted my bank to say I didn’t recognise the amounts now Uber have suspended any trips I book for outstanding debts. I’d never even heard of it till today.

I had an email alerting me to a pending paypal payment for E4.99 from yesterday. We were last in Majorca in Feb half term and used Uber then, but I didn't sign us up for any recurring payments.
Paypal were quick to refund, thankfully.
