I can't think of all the wonderful things I've seen with Dame Maggie. I know a life well lived, and age comes to us all, but what a wonderful woman. Any favourites?

Loved her as Miss Jean Brodie, saw her on stage once as Lady Bracknell, and find it really hard to think of anyone else being Minerva McGonagall.

SameOldMeals · 27/09/2024 14:31

Ladies In Lavender is one of mine.

MrsApplepants · 27/09/2024 14:32

Loved her as Lady Grantham and Professor Mcgonagall. RIP

The Lady in the Van.

A wonderful actress in all the roles she performed.

Charlotte Bartlett in A Room with a View ❤️

I love Maggie Smith. Loved her as the acid tongued Dowager Countess in Downtown Abbey. She will always be Minerva McGonagall to me!

Noooooo... :(

Aquamarine1029 · 27/09/2024 14:36

I love anything she ever did. She was amazing and I'm so sad the world has lost her.

SameOldMeals · 27/09/2024 14:37

I have very fond childhood memories of her roles in Hook and Sister Act.

LegoTherapy · 27/09/2024 14:37

Noooo! What a loss to the world.

RIP 💐
I liked her as Mrs Medlock in The Secret Garden.

So many great parts played superbly and only as Maggie Smith could do.

Death on the Nile.

An absolutely outstanding actress.

GCAcademic · 27/09/2024 14:41

So sad. Such a fantastic talent. I can't think of anything I watched with her in it where she was anything less than brilliant.

troppibambini6 · 27/09/2024 14:42

I'm genuinely so sad at this. She was such a wonderful actress.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/09/2024 14:42

May she rest in peace.

If any thread should have had a trigger warning it was this.

RIP

Great actress, one of our finest.

If you have not seen this one ‘My House in Umbria’ is a sleeper film worth watching.

Wands up!

So many wonderful roles but, for me, the most memorable would be The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and, for DS, Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter movies.
