I have a friend that still smokes 40 a day so pretty much a chain smoker when she's awake

How ? Expensive !! I do yes and he is still doing well at 85, does a cough at times but nothing major and extremely well! It’s my best friends dad, I’ve known him 45 years and still sits in his chair smoking all the time. He also like a drink or 8 he really doesn’t care how much they cost now lol

My grandmother smoked 60 a day and lived until 85

She only died there in January from a bang on the head from falling over

🤷🏽‍♀️

Yes. I know 2.

It takes up so much money.

They don't even go outside.

Everything stinks.

They are stuck in the 70s and haven't picked up on how unacceptable it is now to do this in front of kids.

A few of the patients I see when I do a district nursing shift, yeah. They usually have to be reminded to put it out and not spark up another while I’m in there, it’s pretty grim. Most of them have leg ulcers caused by smoking!

I expect they smoke that much because there’s bugger all else to do when you’re housebound.

Me. Age 60, 40 a day. How do I know I’m fit? Weightlifting big weights 3 times a week, yoga times 2, walk everywhere, lots of gardening, plenty of energy etc. Cardio recovery excellent, resting heartbeat of under 60. BP etc all good. I was much less fit when I carried excess weight, then I would struggle with stairs, hills, feel tired, etc.

Yes, the chimney next door to me does and it comes into my hallway, it's suffocating tbh. Though I block the letterbox with a zip lock bag. I keep all my doors closed so I can keep the exhaust out of my living space, some people are far worse off than me, those who live in buildings where the smoke comes up through tiny gaps in the floor........ some smokers will be dead with lung cancer and heart disease.

I used to when I was stressed but I don't smoke anymore. DH will if he's really stressed as well but not constantly.

I know plenty of people who chain vape however.

Only ever met one - my school friends mum. She would literally eat her dinner with a fork in one hand and a cigarette in the other.

I doubt that.

Yes, it'll catch up with them eventually. My dad smoked for decades. He ate loads of homegrown veg and so on which helped somewhat, and he thought he was healthy; but he was finally diagnosed with COPD several years ago, and then he thankfully gave up. He's terminally ill now due to years of smoking. It's such a terrible thing, and tobacco companies are evil. The outdoor ban can't come soon enough for me. Fortunately I've never smoked, and always thought it was a disgusting habit. My dad regrets it, and would never smoke given his life over. No smoker gets off scot free.

My aunty was a chain smoker. She'd have a fag. Then have a couple of inhales on oxygen. Then she'd light another fag. She died riddled with cancer.
