What to take friend about to have a baby

I'm visiting my friend who lives about 4 hours away just before she has her first baby. She has invited me by the way! She's had a difficult pregnancy. What would be good to take as presents for her and the baby?

The best thing I got was a sponge type thing that you put the baby on in the bath

A sticky backed piece of velcro so the remote control doesn't fall down the side of the sofa.

Food! Something that she can snack on to keep her energy levels up - could you bake some flapjacks or muffins?

I remember being gifted a load of neal's yard bath stuff, thought was appreciated but never had time to use it! Practical is better.

My friend received a Cook new parents meal box from her work colleagues.

And also socks. Everyone forgets them.

The best thing friends/relatives did was come over, bring something to pop in the freezer, offer to make tea and ask if I minded if they did the washing up. And then asked if I minded/ wanted her to ‘have a quick whip round’. And just cleaned the kitchen. Some people would hate that but she did preface it by saying ‘it’s what I would have liked someone to have done’. We laughed because I said I didn’t do that and she said ‘no because you didn’t have kids and you didn’t know’.

If it’s her first, and baby is yet to arrive, then maybe take something cute for the baby (not a blanket). Or some nice moisturiser or something for her (nothing that needs a long bath in order to be used!)…

But, yeah, as a mum of three - food is the answer. 😂
