What have I done to my leg?

My upper leg has been incredibly painful for several weeks

It's the upper thigh. I have to drag my leg when I walk and cannot lead with that leg up it down the stairs.

When sat, I can lift the leg with minimal pain. When stood it's painful (as in REALLY painful) immediately but I can stand on that one leg without too much issue.

Neither heat nor ice help.

What might I have done to it? I had an e-consult which resulted in me getting a face to face appointment with the physio in 8 weeks time. 8 weeks feels a long time right now.

I'd see a private physio. The physio near me charges £60 then £45 for subsequent appointments (Nuffield/Bupa)

Is that doable for you ?

How old are you op? Is the pain at the front of your hip? Any back pain? Is it painful to press where you have pain? Look up hip flexor tendinopathy… could be that. Could be hip joint issue itself or referral from the back if not painful to press where you feel the pain. These are my guesses.

I'm 45. In good health. Low BMI (bit underweight).

It hurts when I press the front of my thigh at the top to the middle. It feels tight and sore.

The hip joint itself feels fine.

I can look at private physios but wouldn't be able to afford many sessions.

You should get a diagnosis and exercises

You could then utube more relevant exercises

Did you ever find out what it was? I’ve got exactly the same symptoms as you describe, painful for about 4-5 weeks now & getting worse. Tried GP but only got phone appointment, prescribed ibuprofen gel which has been less than useless & pain is getting worse by the day. Phoned for another appointment but can only get one in two weeks time! So wondered if you’d had anything yet?

It's still a bit of a mystery. And still incredibly sore.

I've had an xray and no issue with the hip or leg.

I've seen a physio and have done exercises to do. There's general talk of it being a strain.

I'm sorry you are having the same issue.

Thank you for replying. I’m sorry you’re still having pain with no solution as to the cause. If I get any information that might help, trying for another appointment this coming week, I’ll tell you in case it helps.
