What sort of bee is this ? Came back from trip and have lots in the house.

I've got back last night from a trip away for a few days and have found quite a lot of what I think are bees in my appartment ( I'd left the windows open) can anyone confirm? Thanks. Also any ideas of what to do? There are about 15/20 that I can see on different curtains... no buzzing sound anywhere though.

I think it’s a hoverfly not a bee at all. Probably couldn’t find a way out, they seem to fly high up once they get indoors and then can’t get out. They don’t sting or buzz as far as I know.

If they’re still alive, you could catch them gently and let them out.

Yes, it’s a hover fly. They are perfectly harmless little things, useful pollinators.

Thankyou. I'll try and let them out when I can because it's pouring down with rain and I doubt they'll want to leave right now !
