Has anyone successfully come through this is there anything that really helped ? Or anything that made recovery quicker ?

Currently my main issue is the physical side of it. The exhaustion and muscle aches , also frequently becoming tearful and totally unable to mask at all. Hours each day unable to speak.

just really after any tips from others who have been through this

I'm about 18 months in from when I hit burnout. I still have bad days and I am more easily overwhelmed than I was before, but I'm recovering and am much more myself than I was.

Time and giving yourself space to heal are the only things that have helped me. Avoiding the things that made it worse. It is incredibly frustrating though.

I’m struggling so much with the exhaustion and it will just hit me it’s not gradual I suddenly can’t keep my eyes open even if I only got up couple of hours before ??

I can keep a lid on it kind of, the main things for me are to avoid sugar, eat regularly, eat lots of greens and veg, try and walk daily, those really help within a couple of weeks with the fatigue.

Afternoon naps / quiet weekends catching up on sleep. I had the exact thing you describe of needing to sleep two hours after waking. All my bloods were fine.

I find forcing myself to get up earlier helps, then trying to go to bed at a reasonable time, rather than staying up late.

Cry if you need to. I call samaritans if I need to talk as they don't judge or keep a record.

That sounds awful Op, I'm sorry for you.

Do you mind me asking, how do you know it's autistic burnout as opposed to something medical or hormones/ mental health etc?
