Can a 4/5 year old use a weighted blanket?

Is this okay for a reception aged child to sleep under? We were thinking of getting one to use as a comfy just on the sofa etc or if he has a tantrum (just started school) but I also read that they can help with night wakings, however not to be used with younger children. I assumed that meant babies and toddlers but would a reception aged child be able to sleep with one? I saw a nice fleecy 3kg one on Amazon...

Yes, but it shouldn't be on them all night due to the risk of overheating.

The weight of the blanket should be no more than 10% of the child's own weight.

Some children love them, some don't get anything out of them so if you can try one first it's a good idea. They can be very expensive.

Oh, so at what age can they sleep with them?

The official advice is to check with an occupational therapist. I'm not medically qualified in any way, so while I can tell you what I know about weighted blankets I can't give specific advice IYSWIM.
