Incorrect address letter - jury service

We’ve just moved in to a new house and I mistakenly opened a letter thinking it was regarding our mortgage/energy/electric etc. it’s for the old tenant and a summons for jury service, but I’ve ripped the return address so I can’t just tape it and send back.
I was going to email the jury service to explain, but now a bit anxious of admitting that I’ve opened someone else’s letter! Please tell me I’m being ridiculous.

Just put it in a new envelope and post back with no longer at this address.

Yep - I’d write “Opened in error - not known at this address” and send it back.

I suppose I can try and tape it back together!

Never phone people as you end up in some kind of shoot the messenger scenario. Been there done that with an NHS letter.

That’s understandable - I’d rather not get involved in a back and forth!
