Have you ever thought were being funny but the joke fell flat?

Reminded of this after seeing ads on tv for the Coronation Street tour.
I went on the tour a few years ago and we decided to have a snack at the on-site cafe before going in. It wasn't on the menu (think they missed a trick there) but I thought it would be funny to ask for a 'bacon barm'. Channelling my inner Fiz or something. The server just looked at me as though I had two heads.

Well...this made me laugh OP.

Yes I made a joke about someone being murdered by her son when he grows up because she joked that she was going to be referred to social services for being late picking him up (we are social services) - it was the day that gypsy rose Blanchard had been released from prison and it was the sort of black humour that my team would have found funny but in the particular group I was in it fell flat. I did cringe quite a bit.

I feel like I could be the server, I don't get why it's funny?
Bacon is bacon
Barm is bread ( cob/roll etc)
Surely that's a regular cafe order?

Yes a long time ago before emoticons, I made a joke to a colleague who I had thought I had a good relationship with and she reported me for being abusive.🥺 I felt a whole range of emotions over that one - I was so embarrassed. I never made another jokey comment via email again - I never spoke or trusted the colleague again either only communicating when strictly necessary.
