Claiming on household insurance - premiums increase

If you have ever claimed on your household insurance for something quite big did your insurance premiums then increase? By how much, if you can recall?

We’ve just had two rooms downstairs flooded with the heavy rain in the early hours of Monday morning for the third time now (issue with blocked street drain, so several houses are affected by flooding). Never claimed on insurance (our carpet cleaning machine fixed the previous two minor floods), but this is a big flood.

DH is reluctant to claim on insurance but this time the carpets are absolutely ruined, the house stinks of brown flood water, and he would rather pay a few thousand to replace the carpets instead. Which is more sensible?

I’ve always had household insurance but have never needed to claim ever.

What's the point of insurance if you never claim because you're scared of premiums increasing? Just don't take out the insurance.

You've experienced a major life changing event that has damaged your property, use the damn insurance for the purpose it was created for.
