To give unreliable cleaner a leaving gift?

I’ve had a cleaner for about 18 months and while she started off well she increasingly became more scatty and unreliable - leaving dirty rags around the house, turning up hours late (causing me to be late to appointments/meetings) or not turning up at all.

It wasn’t working for me so I gave her a month’s notice but didn’t say why - just that my circumstances were changing. This week is her last session. Usually I would get someone a gift/card when a professional relationship is ending but I don’t feel particularly inclined in this instance.

What would you do?

No, I am not sure why you would even think of doing so.

She is an employee you have had to stop using because she is unreliable.

I would say thank you, and good-bye. I probably wouldn't have kept her on for that period of time, actually, given that performance. Hope your next one will work out for you.

Get the keys off her and say bye. Job done.
