Anyone had mirena out in peri menopause?

My doctor has suggested taking my mirena coil out and having HRT.
I'm 50.

I've been v happy with my mirena. Regular, light periods.
Just googled and there's massive lists of side effects after mirena is removed!

Anyone any experience of mirena removal in older ladies?

Suggest your GP isn't very knowledgable Mirena can be used as part of HRT. Get your hormone le els checked then add eastrogel via patch or gel if you need it.

Definitely get a second opinion. I'm on HRT and using mirena for that purpose. Just had it changed and have been told I can have another in 5 years time if I want it. I'm 48.

I had a new mirena as progesterone part of HRT, I'd always chose that option they're amazing IME

I've also been recommended mirena as part of hrt. Can you see a different gp?

I’m 50 and have a mirena plus oestrogen patches. GP has already suggested it gets replaced when it runs out next year

Why would you take it out? I had mine inserted during peri as both birth control and HRT. Means you can have faff-free continuous oestrogen. I'm on my fourth now, and don't see why I would ever not have one as long as I'm on HRT, which I have no intention of ever coming off.
