I thought trolls were people who post nasty messages/try to upset people. Like attacking/being mean to someone online...rather than posting a thread which does neither of those things.

Can someone explain it in this context please?

Interesting fact I just learned whilst trying to answer this question for myself on an internet search - the term troll (in internet terms) was coined in the late 80's!

Basically it means the post is not genuine. Poster has made a thread purposely to cause a bunfight.
