To ask for help with persistent burping

Inspired by a thread about flatulence..

For the last 8 months or so I've had extreme burping incidents multiple times a day.

They're not just normal little burps, it's like a ball of air is forced out of me so suddenly I often don't have time to put my hand to my mouth.

It happens at any time of day but also happens almost every time I bend and then stand up straight.

I've been to the docs and they checked for stomach cancer and stomach ulcers and found nothing.

Any ideas what it could be? Has anyone else had this?

It's so embarrassing. The burps are so loud (and so sudden) that people turn and look in surprise when I'm out and about. People can easily hear them when they're about 10 metres away. If I'm downstairs, my family can hear them from upstairs.

I've just started a new job in a quite formal environment and I'm dreading the time when it happens and I have no control over it.

What's your diet like and what do you drink and how often throughout the day? Are you gulping in air when you eat and drink? Are you overweight and do you snore? If you snore your mouth is likely to be open and you'll swallow air as you sleep. Are you breathing through your nose or your mouth? If you've got into the habit of mouth breathing it's much easier to take on excess air.

Breathe right strips might help ease snoring. It might help to slow down and consciously exhale air gently through your nose as you swallow drinks particularly. Ginger and fennel teas are good for excess stomach gas. Try box breathing to get used to what breathing through your nose feels like and that you don't need lots and lots of air

If you bend your knees rather than bending at the waist do you still burp in the same way?
