What kind of cooker you have (gas, electric)? Convince me to buy / not buy similar to yours

I need to upgrade my cooker, the one I have is free standing 50com and looks horrible in my new kitchen so I need a free standing 60cm.

It is gas which will involve paying extra for disconnection when connecting the new one or paying a gas engineer and everyone feel mes I'm crazy to have gas cooker in the UK (I grew up with gas cooker in my country so for me is quite normal)

Should I switch to electric? Will it be more economic?
Indcution hob? I will need to buy a new set of pans too
I actually don't mind those electric burners

Please help!

I have gas hob, electric oven.

But i'd have a gas oven back in a heart beat. It is quite hard to get built in gas ovens in the UK.

Mine is Bosch. It is 20 yrs old and never needed any repairs so it is reliable.

It is a double oven and expensive to run! The small top oven costs 64p/hour.

I only have the big oven on on Christmas day now so not sure of cost there.

Electric ovens are supposed to heat more evenly than gas. Mine never did. Sponges are always lopsided.

I'd never have an electric hob. Gas is on when on, and off when off. None of that heating up and cooling down nonsense.

Harder to clean though. Especially if a pan of milk boils over!

Oh freestanding - keep with the gas! I am UK too. Always had gas. Gas is cheaper for sure.

Don't get an induction hob. We have one and I'd rather toast everything on a bonfire in the garden than use it to cook. The only thing it has going for it is that it's easy to clean. I'll be going back to a gas hob as soon as I can arrange it.

As for the oven, I don't really notice a difference between gas and electric for cooking, however the convenience of being able to place a built in oven higher up to save my back is useful.
