How does this even work in a conversion into 5 attached residences? Will all the owners eventually be on mumsnet with "a neighbor one" saying that they are hogging the rear garden or playing music too loudly in the shared terrace or hanging laundry across the dovecote? What if one owner doesn't take care of their crenellations and they go tumbling onto another owner's battlement?

Think you are not reading it right . Only two properties . Semi detached , 5 bedrooms .

Well this unit is called No 5 so I figured there are at least 5 units:
"No. 5 comprises a principal half of the original house, with some 6600 sq. ft of internal accommodation, surrounded by extensive gardens and grounds of comfortably over an acre, shared woods of some 9 acres and private off-street parking for many vehicles, not to mention the 38' double garage, workshop and sensational roof terrace."

Probably 1 Sneyd Park is the gatehouse cottage, no 2 is the gardeners, 3 is the Dower House...

There'll be HUGE charges and they'll have an army of staff in to maintain the common areas. Presumably anyone moving in will be vetted by the present owners and there'll be ++ covenants on what can and can't be done

It looks like some of the conversion hasn't been done well,.with windows split in half (picture 11?).
There's a similar converted Big House near me - some units have far more features than others! But the leasehold charges are scary - to pay for shared stuff like roof, battlements, etc..

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous, I’d love to live there.@Saz12 not sure which window you think has been split in half, looking at the floor plans all windows look complete.

Saz12 · 22/09/2024 19:44

@Kikibee , it is lovely! I only skimmed the pictures, but number 11 photo looks odd - as if the window continues on the other side of the wall. Sadly I don't have £2.6million so wasn't looking closely!

Nor do I but I do like to dream occasionally 😊

yeah it is an odd window but it’s a turrety like nook in the room, it’s part of the architecture 🤪

Conversion of old properties into several homes is pretty standard. This area of Bristol isn't alone in having hundreds of properties like this. There's a management committee made up of the people who live there - sometimes this is farmed out to a specialist company. Everyone pays a management charge to cover ongoing costs - lighting in central areas, gardener etc. If major work is needed and there are insufficient funds then a cash call is made and everyone has to put their hand in their pocket.

Looks to me like part of the garden and terrace are sectioned off for this property so there's perhaps a private bit each and then some shared.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Makes sense that you'd need to have money one top of money for the maintenance as well as strict rules to adhere to and probably the delineations per @FifiFalafel .
Alas I don't have the coin but would love to live there.
