What can I wear on my head?!

I have just started walking 5k each morning before work. I'm enjoying it and really want to continue. I wear Sweaty Betty leggings and top.

However every morning this week looks like it will rain quite heavily.
I can come home and shower, so it's not that's it's an issue getting my hair wet , it's just bloody uncomfortable!

A bobble hat will just get soaking wet too. So what can I wear on my head to remain comfortable?

I wear a windbreaker with a hood to run in the rain.

Is there a reason you don’t want a jacket with a hood, or just an umbrella?

you can get waterproof caps that people wear for golf etc but not sure how good

A golf hat, look up ones lady golfers wear. Mine is a bucket hat and very waterproof

Runner here- a baseball cap, preferably a running, breathable type. Will keep the water out of your eyes and stop the burn (been there!).
There are also showerproof baseball caps, I've got one from H&M but not tested it running yet

A Rainmate?

A buff, as a wide headband.

Or perhaps one of these?

DH has a water resistant/UV cap , would keep the rain off your face at least

Singleandproud · 22/09/2024 18:16

Just Google rain hat. Plenty to choose from, a wax bucket hat is likely to be your best bet so the wind doesn't get under it when the weather turns

I'm walking for fitness, so at a decent (ish!) pace and already get quite warm so I'm thinking a jacket won't be suitable, and an umbrella wouldn't be practical or suitable.

I'll look into the cap idea as others have suggested similar.

Thanks!

Wasn't aware there was such a thing! Thank you, I will check them out.

A Rainmate?

Not sure what one of those is....? So it's on the list to google!

Google waterproof hiking hats. There are loads of options, a lot of them rather expensive though.

A wide headband is a great idea - thank you!

That image made me 😂. I'm already very conscious of what I must look like getting hot and sweaty, so definitely not brave enough for that!

You can buy waterproof spray, I've sprayed regular caps with it and it's worked well
