Online Psychological Skills Course

Following a bereavement and a period of basic finding life very difficult, trouble with motivation and focusing on anything, I'm in a waiting list for counselling. Although I did have some early after the death and didn't find it particularly helpful.

While I wait I've been offered this 6 week course, it's a group thing, online. It might actually be quite interesting?

It's on a Wednesday afternoon, when I'm at work. Wednesday is my most important day in the office. I could do the sessions in a private room at work, but I don't want to.

I have a new boss, literally started in the last few days and already she's "tightening" wfh policies, so currently, I'm barely doing any wfh, although previously I was doing 1-2 days at home and I'm hoping to return to that once she settles in.

I don't know if it's reasonable to ask to wfh one day a week for the next 6 weeks to do this, or if I want to explain how fragile and unmotivated I am or even if the course will be useful.

I have a 1.5 hour commute, so going in for the morning only isn't that practical, I'd have to leave soon after 11am to be sure of being home for the 1pm start.

WWYD?

Hi boss, hope you're well, blah blah, I have an ongoing medical appointment at on Wednesdays at 1pm for the next 6 weeks.

I'm able to/I plan to start work earlier/later/make up the time on Thursdays/etc whatever proposed solution you think is appropriate. Alternatively I can WFH and make up the extra time etc

If it's a very important week eg deadlines or whatnot I would be flexible and shift therapy. I think overall starting early on Weds Thurs makes most sense

Personally wouldn't go into details. You could be doing physiotherapy or blood tests etc they don't need to know, just that it's a recurring health appointment
