Looking for some sort of a space saving hack if anyone has any ideas

We lost some space in the kitchen this summer due to some work. I am looking for some sort of a solution for the bins. There is a black refuse bin and a recycling bin.

If this was me I put the refuse bin outside the back door and that would make some space but it's my mother's house and she doesn't want that. Or another idea would be to have a recycling bin in a cupboard. My mother likely won't like that either.

I came home last night to find that she had a clothes horse right in front tof the bins and there's honestly no space for even a chair.

I am looking for some sort of an idea where maybe the bins can go on top. Instead of a landscaped orientation, maybe some sort of a table where the refuse bin can go under with a recycle bin on top.

Would something like that work?

I checked online and I can't really find anything.

Some drawings for reference.

Currently my mother has a clothes horse right in there nearly on top of the bins and there's no space for it.

We have the Joseph Joseph totem bin. It takes up the space of one bin, but has rubbish on top and recycling on the bottom.

We got it for the same reason you mention, we don't have much floorspace.

It doesn't hold loads, but enough for a few days.

We use supermarket liners, not the spendy branded ones.

It is a ridiculously expensive price, we got it on offer, and we have it 4 years and it is still fine. But you might be able to find something similar elsewhere

Edited to try to fix link

I'd really like someone to invent a cat flap type rubbish chute that goes from the back door straight into the bin!
