Non alcoholic evening drinks (for adults!)

Probably seems a daft question but what do you drink of an evening that doesn't contain alcohol? Going into winter it feels like red wine season will be upon us soon and the days of something fizzy with ice are perhaps behind me with the summer. As well as the benefit of not slipping into evenings with alcohol I'd like to avoid the extra calories and lose a little weight. I do like grapefruit juice with tonic but not sure I can drink it every night. Also ruling out flavoured teas thanks to overdoing those during pregnancy and not getting over it 🤢🤢🤢

Kombucha
Non alcoholic aperol spritz
Trip CBD drinks
Turkish apple tea from whittard
Mulled wine mix from whittard

Honestly, water on school nights. Alcohol on weekends

ChickpeaPie · 22/09/2024 20:45

Do people actually drink all these drinks on a normal everyday evening?
I have a glass of water with dinner and a cup of tea after the kids have gone to bed.

@ChickpeaPie I have a fancy non alcoholic drink when I want a treat and would otherwise have poured a glass of wine. I don't tolerate alcohol so much now.

Lyres do a nice range of AF spirits and noseccos, aperitifs etc. The Bourbon is nice warmed up with lemon and cloves. But may not to be to everyone's taste!

Tanquery 0% Gin hits the spot for me.

this is one of the better alcohol free red wines.

Mumteedum · 22/09/2024 21:12

I got caught out with non alcoholic gin as loads have horrible sweeteners in them.

Bottle green do a lovely spiced berry cordial that's really tasty hot.

Second/third this, it's lovely, like non alcoholic mulled wine.

Water or decaf coffee in the evening and very occasionally apple juice. Mostly water though.

I love a glass of Rochester Ginger, warming and feels grown up. Available from Holland and Barrett, not sure where else you can get it.

DH likes that - they do a couple of other flavours too. Grape tree do it too.

If you want something to replace alcohol and you like beer I can highly recommend Erdinger isotonic, it's really nice and tastes very similar to the boozy version.

JazzieC · 22/09/2024 22:43

I'm new to alcohol free beer but recently tried Brewdog AF IPA and really liked it. 50 cals per can isn't too bad either.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/09/2024 23:30

There are quite a few decent low/zero alcohol beers now (not bud or becks blue, they're cats' piss). Erdinger is nice, so is Ghost Ship 0.5, and rather to our surprise we're really enjoying Guinness zero.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/09/2024 23:31

Mostly I drink decaf Yorkshire tea though.

BBC Good Food have lots of lovely non alcohol drinks. I like a Shirley Temple:

Ginger beer
Lime juice
Ice
Straw
Grenadine (I bought a berry flavoured one from Tesco)
