Take care of your hearing. Buy good quality headphones, or don't use them at all.
Also, don't take so many painkillers.

MosaDiCello · 22/09/2024 03:32

You were always enough.

marshmallowfinder · 22/09/2024 03:40

It's not compulsory to have children.

HollyKnight · 22/09/2024 04:06

Putting everyone else first will not make them like you so learn to say no.

Backtoblack1 · 22/09/2024 04:28

Don't waste so much money!

ImustLearn2Cook · 22/09/2024 04:30

So much of the advice pp would give themselves is the same advice given to me when I was young by older adults who loved me.

Older me would tell younger me to listen to them because when I got older, I realised they were right.

However, if changing any part of my past alters my present and dc wasn’t born, then I wouldn’t say anything to my younger self at all and just let me learn the hard way 😆

Hearmeout2023 · 22/09/2024 04:37

Dont do or settle for anything that didnt add to your life and make u happy lifes too short for stress

Commonsenseisnotsocommon · 22/09/2024 05:38

Stay away from the toxic swamp that is Mumsnet.

Adventurerno24 · 22/09/2024 05:45

Don't take up less space to appease others

I've realised recently that I've been doing this at work. It stopped last week. I've been passing this on to my dc this week. Some people are overbearing and have agendas, but we all have just as much right to be there, even if certain people would prefer that not to be the case as your presence threatens them.

unsync · 22/09/2024 05:49

Don't get married. It's OK to be single.

Poppy1999 · 22/09/2024 05:58

Don't get fat.

olderbutwiser · 22/09/2024 06:44

Trust your gut and step away from the flat you’re bei g pressurised to exchange contracts on.

Twilightstarbright · 22/09/2024 07:25

Lose the weight, your joints will thank you.

Learn to budget and not get into debt.

Don't ever settle.

redhatpurplehair · 22/09/2024 07:44

Don't give up your sports when you leave school.

Don't pretend to be who you're not for someone.

WomanFromTheNorth · 22/09/2024 08:08

Check your breasts

I really need to learn this, and not pass it on to the kids. Being an inconvenience to others seems to be something I'm so aware of. I just don't know how to switch off my brain about it.

2 things:

  1. Buy land when you finished high school (with the down payment your Grandad offered). It was dirt cheap and has gone up exponentially in the past 20 years. You'd be filthy rich by now.

  2. Don't 'follow your passion' as a career. Go the finance route, make millions and check out before 40 to spend the rest of your life as you wish. The recommendation to have a good solid middle class career with a very modest ceiling salary is a scam. Working sucks.

Stocks & shares ISAs aren't just for rich people!

Get on the housing ladder early with a small property.

Shodan · 22/09/2024 09:21

Take the 'gap year' and then go to a decent university. Ignore everyone who tries to guilt you into doing what is best for them.

fufulina · 22/09/2024 09:25
  1. look after your teeth and gums
  2. start a pension when you start work
  3. don’t get married and have kids without really thinking about it
  4. if you do have kids - start as you mean to go on. Share the load - all of it. Otherwise resentment will ultimately kill whatever love was there.

This would be mine too.

Don't wait till you're ready to settle down to buy the house, you have the deposit without the man, just buy the house!!!! Do try to live without regret but when I allow myself to think where I could be if I'd bought even 2 years earlier it hurts the core of me 😫

Don't pretend to be stupid or make yourself 'less than' to put stupid people at their ease. Not only will they believe it, but you'll start to believe it yourself...
