Fill in the blank. What health advice would you give past you?

I feel like future me needs to give current me a kick up the ass to live a more healthy life. But time travel isn't working for me so I'm trying this instead...

Do weights.

Don’t starve yourself and use laxatives when you were a teenager as you’ve fucked up your metabolism and bowels for life.
don’t get a liking for wine or gin.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 21/09/2024 20:01

Stop smoking way earlier than I did.

Not wish that I could put on weight because I felt too skinny.

Errr not have kids probably 🤣 DC1 broke my pelvic floor and DC2 gave me an autoimmune disease and that’s even before you consider how I now just have NO TIME to exercise. I got ‘super thin’ for my wedding (was a size 14 but that’s the smallest I’ve ever been) and then started having babies 3 years later and now I’ve just bought some size 22 jeans 😫

Also in general just lose weight as early as you can because it’s soooo much harder in your 30s!

Don't have the operation (trust your gut and ask for a second opinion). I asked if there was an alternative they said no, I believed them (there was a less invasive option). I became permanently disabled and unable to work in my 30s. But that's OK because the doctor said he was 'doing the best for me'. Definitely question why, why, why it's the best option (I do now for me and the kids and am seen as a nuisance but I no longer care).

Vitamin D!! To ward off autoimmune disease!!! I think that's right ... Grin

Not follow the Covid rules to leave the house only once each day. Thus forgoing my own exercise routine to get the tweens and teens out in the fresh air.
Weight ballooned, strength and flexibility lost. Menopause hit at the same time. Four years later I feel 10 years older and suffering ongoing health issues as a result

LongSufferingPropriety · 21/09/2024 21:10

Never go on a diet. It set me on an endless merry-go-round from teen years onwards and all diets make you fatter so I'd now be thinner and have spent a lot less time hungry and miserable!

KrazyboutKillian · 21/09/2024 21:18

Don’t let those 5lb become 7 , then 10 , a stone , then a stone and a half and so on

keep an eye on your weight and keep it healthy
