Need to leave my job

Long story short is I’m burnt out and need to leave my job asap. My mental health is in the bin as a result of work stress.
Struggling to find the time and motivation to actually apply for new jobs due to current work load.
Family and friends have recommended I go on sick leave with stress to recover and allow me time to look for another job. Would this impact any future reference?
My worry though is that if I do this would my new employer ask for the number of days I was off sick? Would my employer disclose this? Could this result in the job offer being withdrawn?
My feeling is that many places just do a basic reference without sick leave dates? I would imagine that if I was on paid sick leave my current company would probably just want to get rid of me and so not put my sick leave on a reference. The company I work for is huge if that makes a difference.
Thank you for any advice 🙏

I had to do this earlier this year. New job did not ask old job about sick days. It was the best thing I ever did going out sick so I could step back and see what I needed to do next. I did go back to work out my notice in old job to leave in the best terms I could.

I was in an awful job, I hated it, i knew i had to leave. I spent my notice period off sick with Work Related Stress. I really needed to recover. No one asked about my sickness days ever anywhere.

A lot of places now just ask for confirmation of your job title and how long you worked there.
