Am I reading this right? 2 tablespoons of saffron to make this recipe?

cookwithbrad.com/codinsaffroncream/

Can anyone advise?

Thank you.

That’s far too much. I’d use a couple of big pinches. Cost wise that’s plenty!

It's a mistake - 2tsp would be quite a lot. Although I think saffron tastes like hospitals anyway so I wouldn't bother! There's a lovely dish called marry me chicken made with cream, garlic, basil and sundried tomatoes which I saw a cod version of the other day - I think it would be a lot nicer!!

Can’t be right? Would make it the most eyewateringly expensive dish. Teaspoons, , maybe (though still quite a lot).

Honestly, for colour I’d substitute turmeric and add a teaspoon of saffron for flavour. (I’m a pretty competent cook).

I agree, it tastes like TCP. I don’t understand the attraction.

I wouldn't use more than a decent pinch, anything more would be inedible and unbelievably expensive!

That seems far too much, particularly considering it says to steep it in just quarter of a cup of water. I can't imagine that's right, two teaspoons would seem too much tbh. I've never seen a recipe calling for that much saffron - it would cost a fortune if nothing else! I'd probably go with a heavy pinch initally and see how it tastes.

Ah thank you for the sense check!

I do like saffron, in risotto certainly.

I think I'll try the Marry Me recipe too!

Thank you.
