This morning, I let the cats out, only for them to find the discarded remains of a takeaway in the garden. The polythene bag was wound round one of the cats' neck, and her brother was chasing her.

Please think before chucking your litter on the ground or into someone's garden.
This goes for airborne items like fireworks and balloons as well as the usual litter. I've been narrowly missed by an empty vape before now. Balloons and fireworks can harm wildlife, pets and livestock. The flying vape landed a few feet away from me when I was in the garden.

Totally agree, OP. I live in a beautiful part of the country, but the litter is terrible. People come to the forest, presumably because they appreciate its beauty or being close to nature - and then they desecrate it with their rubbish! And yes, I do go out litterpicking, but people really should clean up after themselves.

I like the "Don't be a tosser" campaign.

I was watching a video about a man who collects shells and finds hermit crabs using litter for homes. He swaps them over. It's dreadful the way it effects wildlife.
