Is being unobservant an inheritable trait?

My father is unobservant, but I always thought that was just typical male behaviour of making my mother do the wife work of finding his keys. But my daughter is astoundingly unobservant. So I’m wondering if it is a DNA family trait?

My daughter is academically intelligent. She’s neurotypical. She is incapable of finding her gym kit when it is lying in plain sight. It's not laziness. She gets frustrated looking for things, she is trying to find things. She is frustrated when I go to her room and point saying, "there it is."

Which bit of our brains governs whether we are observant or unobservant?

It’s a ND trait.
