I have alternate taste and I like rock, metal
and alternate music.

I recently came across this cover of Zombie by the Cranberries being covered by Erin and the Rock Orchestra.

It’s an amazing cover. Deloris was one of a kind when it comes to this song, but damn with the orchestra backing her. Erin really did this song justice

Proclaimers cover of Dean Martin's "King of the Road".

Mad World. I can't remember who did the giver but it's awesome. Not sure if it's better though as I love the Tears for Fears original.

They’ve all been said but…

Disturbed - Sound of Silence

Johnny Cash - Hurt

Gary Jules - Mad World

And probably others that I don’t realise are covers!

Have to think a bit about covers I enjoyed!

Yes. Better than Rod Stewart's version IMO, as the quality of his version sounds muffled and badly recorded, and seems to sound a bit odd when the key changes late in the song.

The cover that Orson did of Sugababes "Push the Button".

MariaMeringue · 20/09/2024 23:04

I love Kirsty MacColl's version of Days and Lana del Rey's version of Doin' Time.

PangoPurrl · 20/09/2024 23:29

Not necessarily better than the original as I love it so much, but Kermit doing 'Once in a Lifetime ' by talking heads is outstanding, made even better by the video!

'War Pigs' by Black Sabbath is covered brilliantly by both Faith No More and Alice Donut.

Pretty much all of the covers Johnny Cash did for his American Recordings albums are superb.

Love love love the version of The Misfits' 'Last Caress' done by Papa M.

Eva Cassidy - Fields of Gold

This has started me crying. Years ago I went to France with the guides and played this on my Walkman constantly while on the coach there.

a year later our guides had a bus crash and we lost some of them. Even thinking about that song makes me cry 30 years later

Tom's Diner by AMK and the Giant Rooks

MrsAvocet · 20/09/2024 23:49

The Bauhaus version of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is a billion times better than Bowie's.
Stevie Ray Vaughan outdid Hendrix with his versions of Little Wing and Voodoo Chile.
The Jeff Healey Band's version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps is better than any other.

NellyTimes · 20/09/2024 23:50

Just remembered A-ha's version of Crying in the Rain.
