Is a platinum ring next to white gold really such a bad idea?

My wedding band is white gold and I’m looking for an eternity ring. I’m stuck on metal choices. I know platinum has the potential to damage the white gold (although over how many years?) but it should be a more secure setting for the stones. There’s also the white gold plating colour issue but I get the band replated when it’s needed.

I very rarely wear my engagement ring so discounting that entirely. Definitely want the other two next to each other.

Does it really matter that much? Has anyone mixed like this?

The platinum will wear the white gold plating away very quickly. If you wear the rings all the time. You'll be replating once a year. I wore white gold against 9ct yellow and this happened!

The platinum will damage the white gold, and fairly quickly.

Platinum and white gold are slightly different colours as well

Platinum is harder than gold, and it will damage the other ring.

Totally opposite experience here, I have a platinum engagement ring and a white gold wedding ring, I've had them on 14 years of solid wear (literally never taken them off) so far, both the same colour, no wear at all!

I have silver wedding ring, platinum engagement ring and white gold promise ring.

All have sat comfortably for 2 years.
