Scared to go to hairdressers because I've dyed my hair

😅🤣

A few months ago I had 2 appointments to lighten my hair and get it to a light brown with blonde highlights.

I couldn't be bothered with the regrowth, it didn't suit me, it was financially not viable and I've had alot going on lately.

So last week I threw my usual black box dye on and feel much better.

But I need a cut. I'm very shy and have ADHD and I just know they're going to comment on it.

It's also a bit patchy, but I'm not that bothered, I'll get all those bits next time, I'm not super fussy about my hair.

But again, I know if I book in for a cut (which I have) they'll.comment that I've missed bits

They're really nice and it will be in a lighthearted way but it's still stressing me out and I'm thinking of cancelling and going elsewhere but they do really lovely cuts :(

Just go
I think folks are often doing impulsive things with their hair so just try to pass it off as that. 'I just fancied a change the other week haha' (maybe a tinkly laugh??)

I had tons of advice off my hairdresser when I got it permanently dyed dark brown in Tenerife a few years ago. She was fine about it. I loathed it and was back fast to highlights

Just go! They won't care as much as you think they will and you're doing classic ADHD overthinking. It's okay even if they do comment, it really doesn't matter, and it's not an attack on you or your character. I know the feelings you describe well, btw.

Well 4 options as I see it:

  1. Re-dye your hair
  2. Cut your own hair
  3. Go to a new salon but they will comment as well
  4. Go to your usual salon, accept the remarks, and come out with a nice haircut

I used to box bleach my hair for years and used to cut it myself after a few awful hairdressing failures, so I was frightened of going to the hairdressers in case of their comments, so I totally get your nervousness. To give you a bit of a boost of confidence to go, I had my first hairdresser visit in a decade about a year ago and felt like a goddess leaving :-).
I actually didn't allow him to cut it first visit (just highlights) but he made it his personal mission for me to agree to a haircut and eventually I agreed. I had been really honest with him about my nerves and he was super careful and very kind and genuinely only cut off about 2cms the first time. Not all hairdressers are hair snobs, if they make comments just shrug them off and find another one who works better for you...their loss!
