Been offered a job now not sure if I want it

Today I was offered a job which I thought I wanted. Now I've got it I'm not sure it's for me. Would I be better off telling them now, before I start. Or give it a go and potentially leave soon after?

What are your reasons for wanting to change your mind- could it be a last minute crisis of confidence?

Are you not sure or is your gut telling you you’ll hate it? Have you any other offers/ opportunities?

I would at least try it before making a decision.

I'm worried that I won't be able to cope with what's expected of me. I want to give it a go but thinking if I just cancel now, someone else can have the job.

You can do it! They chose you because they think you can. Give it a go!

You'll probably have a probationary period. Use that to see if it works for you and look for another job if not.

Of course you can do it. You wouldn’t have applied if you didn’t think you had a chance. It’s normal for people to feel a bit uncertain faced with the unknown, but it will soon become familiar. The probationary time will show you both whether the job is for you, but you won’t know if you don’t try.

Have you been out of work for a while?
Maybe its a confidence issue?
