It’s tiny

We are renovating a house, I’m busy and trusted him enough to sort out the plans, planning permission, builders, all that jazz.

I thought we were on the same page with the loft, seen previous plans, they did end up changing but he reassured me. Loft is being converted to a first floor with 2 bedrooms and a main family bathroom. So far, so good with the bedrooms but up until a few weeks ago (when I last went over there) no sign of a bathroom so all I asked was something along the lines of ‘so it’s here the bathroom is going right? It will be a decent size family bathroom with a big enough shower for me to shower the kids in, right?’. ‘Yep, that’s it babe’ he replied.

Well it’s fucking not. Went over there today, saw the bathroom. It’s so small, so narrow and this isn’t me being a diva demanding a huge ass bathroom. This is me looking at this tiny bathroom, then looking at the landing next to it, which you can’t even call a landing. It’s more like a community centre it’s that big. I can quite literally rent out that space for events. It’s just a waste?! When we could have had a nice sized family bathroom?!

I said ‘what are we going to do with all this space?’. His response ‘we can get a nice chair’ ……….. A chair? Ok, so i’ll admire that chair as I take the 5 minute walk through the landing to the bathroom where I shall have to suck in if I want to squeeze pass the sink to get to the box shower with two kids.

Fuming.

Buggeroo as one of my pals says.
Can it be remedied in any way?

@Villagetoraiseachild I did ask, but I think we’d have to resubmit plans or something or another he said.. so I think it’s too late. I really wouldn’t have minded the size of the bathroom if we didn’t have a ridiculous amount of space next to it! It could have been so different.

Yeah it's shit. It's annoying. But tbh, I've genuinely started to wish for smaller bathrooms. Less to clean, less to get damp. Less horrible grout to scrub. We don't spend much time in the shitter really, do we, after all.

And your kids won't always need help in the shower, they grow so so quick, although to won't feel Ike it right now. More important not to renovate/live with someone who annoys you..... In my direct experience 😅 I'd take a shower in a literal cupboard if it meant I didn't have to live within a battleground sort of relationship, so it sets alarm bells off for me.. Of course, if you're just venting and all is good, then keep firing away here 😅
