Tesco online..

LittleMissDaisyyy · 19/09/2024 17:02

Does anyone else shop online on Tesco? The last handful of times I have gone to do a food shop on there they literally hardly have any stock of anything, & most of the times they’re completely out for instance they have no potatoes atm. I usually do an online shop on Asda but I’ve not been happy with the quality of a lot of their items when they come & also the delivery drivers just sling things about & I often get items that are squashed or leaking. Is this normal for Tescos online to always be out of so much?

It depends which store your order is coming from

poppyzbrite4 · 19/09/2024 17:05

No. I'll never use Tesco again. The service from the delivery people was absolutely horrendous and I made a few complaints. One dumped the shopping at the bottom of my steps and when I asked him to bring it up refused and another refused to help with my shopping then called me names.

I haven't used them for years so can't remember what stock was like. Probably as bad as their delivery service.

xxreeldancerxx · 19/09/2024 17:07

Have used the service since it started ( I'm in Scotland ) and have never had a huge issue - absolutely fantastic service from the drivers. Only time things are out of stock online is usually when they are expecting a delivery. Try again the next day and it's usually back to normal. I couldn't live without it as I absolutely detest shopping in supermarkets!

Store dependent, my local one is always out of stock of so much, both online and in person, i end up driving a bit away to a different one and never had any issues there, always a wide variety, don't often have any replacements.

Arafon · 19/09/2024 17:17

I find Tesco very good but using Ocado at the moment as have 6 months free delivery pass and vouchers, I will go back to Tesco when it runs out.

CeeJay81 · 19/09/2024 17:17

I do and I find the availability really good but I don't order much fruit and veg. So no idea what thats like.

frozendaisy · 19/09/2024 17:29

More has been out of stock recently. I just accept it as part of getting your groceries at the door, I still love not having to do a big trolley shop.

So get what I can, change the week's menu and get missing items if needed as and when.

Not sure what else to suggest.

All our tesco delivery drivers have been lovely.

I've used Tesco delivery since summer 2020 and up until now I've had no issues. This last month or so however its really gone downhill. I can't meal plan as half the ingredients suddenly go out of stock within hours of my finalising deadline. I've not been able to get own brand butter for months now, yet when I pick a more expensive replacement, that goes out of stock too, so I get nothing. Same with leeks, and I've not seen cauliflower for about a year now. Crap.

Redglitter · 19/09/2024 17:30

I love Tesco in my last half dozen deliveries I've had 2 (completely suitable & sensible) substitutes and nothing out of stock.

The drivers are great. All dead friendly and are happy to bring my shopping into the kitchen for me

I can’t stand going into the supermarket, I get so flustered, even with a list & then I have to lug it all up to my flat which takes me loads of trips forward & back so I find it easier to just order. But literally so many things are out of stock & this seems to be reoccurring. It’s not just like 1 or 2 items it’s multiple & they won’t have any alternative which is ashame & also annoying! 🤣

I've been a delivery saver user for years and have mostly had a good experience . It's recently I've found it's gone downhill . For the past couple of weeks I've not had my delivery in my actual slot . It's either been early (an hour last week) or late . I've just done my online shop this evening and loads of stuff is unavailable. It's really frustrating.

Doggymummar · 19/09/2024 17:32

Last few orders were hours late, so I've shifted to ocado. The jadg two shops so they tell me where cheaper than Tesco and I do prefer the food if I am honest. Merchant Gourmet lentils are my new fave.

TheShellBeach · 19/09/2024 17:32

No problems at all in six years of using them.
Very rarely have anything out of stock and the drivers are lovely.

I do Tesco click & collect regularly and haven't noticed this

MangoAndLimeNandos · 19/09/2024 17:34

not any major issues but I don’t understand how they know they don’t have strawberries next Wednesday.

Yes I much rather just go pick the obits up I can’t get online but was just wondering if this was normal for Tesco as I never have had this issue before. & it’s just abit annoying they don’t have any subs for me to choose. They had absolutely 0 potatoes, mince, doubke cream or hot sauce. Just gone to check out & now there is no milk 😩🤣

I stopped because I found the website so clunky.

I do click and collect. Can depend on day you place order. More things are out of stock when placing an order on Friday or Saturday. Eggs annoyingly often.

I definitely noticed recently a few more things have been out of stock. I wonder if they changed the system to stop giving out so many substitutions as they can't substitute if you didn't order it.

I'm not sure how it works as presumably they might have enough to fill a portion of orders so does placing the order earlier make a difference?

PoachesPeaches · 19/09/2024 17:41

For 2.49 a month to have my shopping picked and collect it once a week I think its great. I've also been horrendously late and they've not minded that I'm not in my allocated slot!

ExplodingCarrots · 19/09/2024 17:44

But even though I've had issues recently I've found they're good with subs . I don't have many and if I do they're good subs . Asda on the other hand ...I was having 10+ items subbed every week .

NoEscapingMe · 19/09/2024 17:56

Try ocado. They do a discount offer for first time orders. Always fresh stuff. Rarely anything out of stock. Really good service

Arafon · 19/09/2024 18:48

I haven't had much luck with Ocado, fruit and veg isn't that good and they always squash stuff and tip over my trifle, so I avoid buying some things because of this

Mine rarely subs. I just find out that 20% of my list has 'out of stock' on it hours before my deadline, so I have to go looking for subs myself (usually loads more expensive) or they just put 'this will be missed off your order'

MadisonAvenue · 19/09/2024 19:07

I haven’t had much of a problem with out of stock items (although now I’ve said that tomorrow’s delivery will probably be a disaster) but I’m fed up of being sent short dated items. I always notify them - they never mark it on the receipt - and they’re quick to refund and if it’s something that I’m not going to be using before the use by then it goes in the freezer.

A problem I’ve had the last few weeks is the milk containers leaking in the crates, three weeks running the milk and the other contents of the crate have had to be returned to the store because it’s all been swimming in milk.
