Has anyone's husband just refused to sign divorce and give in financial disclosure?

This should maybe be in the divorce forum but I never seem to get much feedback on there.
My husband is just point blank refusing to give any financial disclosure in and has not signed divorce petition, this has been going on for a year. I don't know what to do. I have been advised to do a financial order and make him have to provide this information but I don't want to go down that route if I can avoid it. Things are already bad enough between us.
Any advice welcome , thank you

If it's been a year I very much doubt he will change. He's probably enjoying keeping you in limbo and under his thumb. Take the legal route. It looks like the only way. Do you think he will be violent?

@Igmum thank you, he has never been violent but I just think he could be awkward and we have a child together so he could just make things difficult with childcare

Sounds like he is already making things difficult full stop. Do you really want to wait another decade until he signs the papers and reveals his assets? I can sympathise (I hate rocking the boat too) but I honestly think he is taking advantage. Go to court (and quietly make fall-back plans in case he does play silly buggers). I hope you are logged with CMS.

Thanks for your advice , I just want to get the divorce done, I've been in limbo for over a year, he is being incredibly stubborn and literally will have to be forced legally to do it

He is not going to do it or his own accord, you will need to do force his hand via solicitor

JustWalkingTheDogs · 19/09/2024 16:05

Bite the bullet and go form the legal route. If he's going to be difficult around childcare arrange alternative cc, or least someone you can use in an emergency

StormingNorman · 19/09/2024 16:08

You can’t avoid the financial order route. He’s shown he has no desire to comply with the process and needs to be compelled to hand over the information.

Lifeasweknowitisrandom · 19/09/2024 16:14

Can you get a solicitor to write a letter stating what the next steps would be if he doesn't comply and the benefits of complying before being forced into court?

Sympathies @Shortnotice my ex told everyone he was going to make me wait 5 years(the old system). But when I volunteered to take 50% of the debt, he signed that divorce paper so quick there were scorch marks on it.
Your ex is being stubborn and controlling. Might be time to try something new and get going with the financial order. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. He has no power over you. The law is your friend here. Deep breath, chin up and big step forward.
Get hold of the list of registered childminders from your local council.
Very best of luck sweetheart xx

If he's refused for a year he isn't suddenly going to change so take the advice you've been given.
